Does anyone have experience with a particular program or training vendor to help with data storytelling?  We collect extensive data that we make available via our website and various public-facing tools. We do not, however, do a good job of providing information or insights via these channels. As we start designing the technical infrastructure for data visualizations, we'd like to establish a data storytelling learning and development program for our staff.

Absolutely, having worked with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau, I can attest to their power in creating visually compelling data representations. However, the true art of data storytelling lies in the hands of your internal talent, as @Ayed Katrangi alluded to in his excellent comment.  Having been an educator for a number of years before getting into IT and data management, I can tell you that it's about cultivating a team with the innate ability to see the narrative within the data.

While tools like PowerBI and Tableau and others are crucial, they (like tools for providing the necessary professional development of your staff) should be viewed as enablers, not crutches. A robust data storytelling program should focus on developing the skills and insights of your staff, honing their ability to leverage these tools effectively. This approach ensures a genuine understanding of the narrative and the capacity to convey it meaningfully to your audience, surpassing the limitations of tool reliance. Invest in training that transforms these tools into force multipliers, allowing your team to craft compelling narratives that resonate with your audience.

There are sure many in the merket who can make an outstanding report and dashboards, but from my experience, they might have the right experience in providing the right look and feel (use-ability) but really the bet in providing the best insights for your target audiences. Unfortunately this has to come from you as an industry expert.
