What is your current structure for onsite vs. remote work? Any plans to change in the near term?

It depends on the regions and local legislation on home working etc but overall we strive to have our employees to be in the office 3 days a week. Although everybody has been used to the 'new' way of working post-COVID and many people holding on this, we do want to stimulate human interaction, face to face meetings, brainstorm sessions and just build relationships, particularly for newcomers and for people to feel included. Many topics and activities can be done virtually or remotely but humans are still social animals so despite the love for 'you can work everywhere' or ' you don't need to be in the office to be successful' there is still something like feeling part of a company, affinity with the culture, learning from others and feel included in many informal discussions without formal scheduling calls to simply catch up? Also from an equity perspective, we can't have office staff work where ever they want and come whenever they want but have the direct workforce having to come to the plants to produce the products, also during COVID we have seen many direct labor still continuing while others were working safely from home. It might sound harsh but if you are joining a company to progress in your career, be developed and learn new things, you have to be honest with yourself and acknowledge that you need to be surrounded by people who can bring this to you and to whose development you can contribute, in return. If you want to work from home 100% or work wherever you want to live, I think it is best to become a self employed consultant or freelancer. So as a conclusion, there has to be the right balance between being in the office, working from home, informal connections with people and focused 'me' time when you need it. All of this has to be enabled by the employer to create both an agile and engaging workplace and embraced by employees to make it happen, together.
Before Covid we were onsite 4 days - working 4 days 9+ hrs and then friday 1/2 days wfh for office. We are colocated with our plant (hence a bit like a 4 10's work week) but we do 4 -9s then 5th day at home 1/2 day. This is global. We now work hybrid schedule and expectation is 3 days in office each week and 1 of the days really shouldn't be friday since that is already a wfh day. We do have "core" days which are tuesday and wednesday which are expected to be in office. We did this to ensure 'high traffic' on those days. We also do our town halls and other events on tuesday/wed. 3rd day is flexible. We have set core hours as well --again to drive flex - so people are there 10-3, but people can come in early and leave early, or come in by 10 and work later. no plans to change. We have been like this since last April. Our sales offices and european offices run similarly though their core days may be different and if in sales, more flex given travel to clients.
