What is a typical timeline for year-end reviews - in your companies, how long does each performance review step for employee year-end reviews take (self-assessment, manager provisional rating, calibration sessions, final rating and manager-employee year-end discussion)?

Senior Manager Talent Management in Retail2 years ago

Colleagues write and submit their self evaluations for the current year at the end of October and the process is open for 2 weeks. Then the calibration process begins, along with writing of manager evaluations. The calibration process is two weeks in length and final performance ratings are entered into our system (Workday) by end of November. Performance review conversations take place in January, where managers share the performance rating, along with an assessment on their performance for the previous year.  The compensation process begins in early February, where managers assign a performance factor (rating) which applies to the colleagues' bonus calculation. In March, managers have a quick touchpoint with colleagues to share their bonus amount.
Goal setting for the current year begins mid January, where colleagues enter performance and personal development goals into Workday and mangers & colleagues schedule a discussion during in Jan/Feb to review.
In 2024 we will be shifting some of these timelines slightly to enable goal setting to start in Workday earlier.
