We are looking for a simple easy to implement Front line worker communications tool for US workers by personal email, text message. These users do not have company provided devices, MS email accounts. Has anyone successfully implemented?

We’ve done something at FEMA that this community member might want to consider.

We treat our M365 system (and by extension, our Exchange/Outlook services) as Sensitive But Unclassified and generally for internal use only. However, we have users that have a need to collaborate with State and Local partners on a regular basis - partners who have not been vetted for access to sensitive Federal data.

To meet that collaboration requirement we partnered with DHS-HQ to utilize their instance of Google Workspaces. This capability is quickly scaling out to cover a multitude of use cases some of which we didn’t originally consider. Now, we have not enabled Gmail for our user community instead pointing them to Outlook/Exchange for official email (we primarily leverage Google for Shared Drives, Meets, Chat, Forms, and Sites). I think though that you could make a case for having a different platform “boundaried” differently for the non-vetted users such that it they could have that mail service enabled outside of your protected/sensitive and more tightly managed internal mail service. Google’s services do pretty well meeting retention requirements and your admins would have a fair number of management functions to ensure that the government requirements for mail are met.
