Every time. For public companies, read their 10K and analyst presentations, found on Investor Relations page, to understand their long term imperatives. At very least search for latest news to show you know something about their business.
It works for ABM but tough for volume business e.g. credit card sales etc or even volume outreach at scale. If the CRM allows to capture these info, perhaps hyper personalised email outreach may work.
