We did it based on percent of projects funded for purely business functions vs IT

However I found some items subjective. Is the upgrade to Exchange Cloud an IT project or for the business? An SAP upgrade for version support and IT project? SAP upgrade for new business functionality definitely a Business Project. There can be a lot of subjective decisions that move the percentage around…..

Currently in our Enterprise Architecture tool and repository, we have a Business Capability Model (BCM) and a Technology Capability Model (TCM). Enabling Applications (e.g., SAP, Salesforce etc.) are mapped to the BCM, and enabling technologies (e.g., API gateway) are mapped to the TCM. However, some capabilities like Data Management are common to both models and we are trying to figure out best way to represent that.

How have you organized your capability model? Is it a single model containing business and technical capabilities or two separate models? If later, how are you organizing common capabilities like Data Management?

Most of the application team I lead is in Brazil and the global IT leadership (US-based) now wants to move some of that work to a new global delivery center in India to be more cost effective, but I have doubts.
