Director, Information Security in Education, 1,001 - 5,000 employees
Working in Information Security, the biggest reason for me—especially post COVID—is that I still end up getting pulled in for “urgent stuff” as the only full time person doing the work in my department. We have a part time student and one other person covering super critical things, but this doesn’t give the coverage we need.

So 4/5 times I end up still working while using the vacation time I am entitled to and I genuinely feel there’s no point to use it if I’m going to work “for free”.

My personal experience.

I usually get the feedback and go back with data driven analysis providing details to cross leaders to understand the context and make decision basis data and and not gut feeling.

Without a doubt - Technical Debt! It's a ball and chain that creates an ever increasing drag on any organization, stifles innovation, and prevents transformation.
