I recommend the Talent Strategy Group's Talent Management Institute offered in partnership with UNC to individuals looking to get a strong grounding in talent management

Talent Management is a huge area.  There are numerous paths within that one space.  For me it was a book, “ The Leadership Pipeline”  by Ram Charan.  Developing Leaders is a key responsibility of TM, so this book helped me understand critical concepts of that area.
