How do you measure cloud adoption in your organization? We use a calculated core metric for cloud (back calculating out of CPU/HR billing information) to compare against on-prem. But it is a bit like comparing apples with bananas. Counting applications could be another approach, but then you have small and large applications.

Key KPIs for Cloud Adoption:

Cloud Spend vs. Budget: Monitoring actual versus budgeted cloud spend.
Cloud Service Uptime: Percentage uptime of cloud services.
Application Deployment Time: Time taken for deploying applications in the cloud.
Resource Utilization Efficiency: Efficiency in using cloud resources like CPU, memory, and storage.
Cloud Migration Rate: Speed of migrating workloads to the cloud.
Security Incident Frequency: Frequency of security incidents in the cloud environment.
User Adoption Rate: Rate at which users are adopting cloud-based applications.

Industry Benchmark SLAs:

Availability: Typically ranges from 99.9% to 99.999% uptime.
Response Time: Promised response times, usually in milliseconds, for services and customer support.
Data Recovery: RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) metrics.
Network Performance: Guaranteed bandwidth levels and maximum latency thresholds.
Customer Support: Resolution times and escalation processes.
Compliance: Adherence to relevant standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Security: Defined security protocols and incident response times.
