A great approach here would be to embed a D&A function within a marketing organization, but with a reporting relationship back into IT.

Agreed. Does your organization have a D&A function within your marketing team? What is your experience?

We do not given our relatively small size.  However, in previous roles I've managed analytics functions within marketing, and it's worked extremely well.   We had a team of about 8 people, with 2 of those people dotted line reporting to me, but hard-line reporting back into IT.  They were the 'glue' between the groups to ensure consistency across technologies and governance policies.

There's a role for everyone. You need to define the role that each team plays and what those roles look like side-by-side. Leadership must have a clear idea of how these teams are built and how they can work to complement each other.

By far the best place for me to travel was Shanghai. Loved the city and the vibe. Singapore is also an amazing place to have to be stationed for work.
