What impact, if any, has generative AI had on data management practices within your organization?

Based on a recent survey over the summer conducted by NewVantage Partners, only 5% of data and analytics teams have any sort of customized GenAI solution in production.  So the answer to your question, for the vast majority of companies, is 'very little'.  I believe this represents an existential threat for the long term viability of the CDO role.

Generative AI exposes the gaps in the data management practices within the organization. You can compare this to the concept of security by obscurity - so far even if the data management practices were not mature, it was difficult to detect/identify it. Now with generative AI solutions like Microsoft Copilots, it can bring up information that may not be appropriate for the audience if the data management practices are not implemented in the right manner.
