When it comes to IT/OT are people seeing more convergence or splitting of infrastructure? How is your organization changing in terms of structure, governance and process?

We are seeing the convergence in thinking, but still the isolation of management/systems. For sure there is a team responsible for the delivery of IT services into OT, but this team are OT engineers and do not report to the CIO. Sure there is internal coordination between IT and OT teams, but for now (at least in our customers), we see OT still untrusting of IT (IT wants security first OT wants safety first which means sometimes security compromises). For sure those Industry 4 solutions now span both IT and OT seamlessly.

What I'm seeing is a convergence from multiple perspectives. For example, ,ore and more organisations are looking to establish and baseline not just security but environmental factors and importantly their carbon liabilities associated with OT. An example of such might be running heavy or high energy consuming plant (not just datacentres). IT is best placed to be able to provide all sorts of capability wrappers around this whereas OT providers are less able to do so and as a result IT is becoming the defacto for boards as businesses demand and drive efficiencies and savings not just in cost but in other aspects such as their carbon emissions too.
