Very interesting questions as we have discussed this within the last couple of months. Forrester used to be the "go to" place for analysts. Then Gartner came along. I've attended a number of their conferences, which seem to be over rated and very expensive. I have found very helpful in their Magic Quadrants. I am finding more and more similar data just Google searching.
Disagree slightly. There's utility there. The bigger question to me is whether or not it's worth current price tags for the same levels of service we used to receive.
I have heard many express doubts about the veracity of their data... have not heard the reverence expressed ten years ago when decisions were made based on which quadrant had what vendor.
Have used the Gartner peer insights only, I understand it’s not nearly the same thing as Gartner.
I think these reports give us some additional data points to consider, they can’t possibly be used as the only way to make decisions. The leaderships teams will work together to decide how best to move forward for the organization and its customers, as i said the technology head may use these reports as inputs to support a position.
Technology today moves much faster, while the reports are helpful, I think having a more real-time, pulse type report available would be more useful, not just an annual or quarterly report.
No : the scope will extend
