What's your current pet peeve with the hype around GenAI?
Sort by:
2 things - shiny object syndrome vs tangible business value and ROI (note, the latter does exist) / Too much focus on GenAI to solve all problems when the reality is it has a great role to play, but so does traditional AI, data analytics, business intelligence etc. Some of the strongest use cases I've worked on have been a combination of GenAI to query traditional ML/deep learning.
It frustrates me the way that people think GenAI can solve all kinds of problems. It can be great for throwing some words on the page, or summarising content, but that doesn't mean GenAI will solve your scheduling issues or actually create a useful policy. We're going to need a range of solutions and humans for that.
My general pet peeve is that Gen AI is not framed for what is currently is: a tool that fits some needs well, but falls short in others. The benefits of AI are often painted with a broad brush while its value needs to be measured use case by use case.
