We are a mid-size organization, software developer, and self-serve data is all but a myth with us. It's may have a lot to do with the business and its structure, but very few people do anything with data in the way most businesses think about data. Most of the work is to do with our customers data.

Yes, and its increasingly important in may areas from simple fact/idea checking to full on AI augmented question answering.  
It does however require a competent user to ensure that the question asked is correctly asked and matches the results expected.   
The roadmap for this easy easy to follow, particularly when starting out.
