What sort of leadership and team building do you do as a finance team? Any fun or creative ideas you can share?

Hello,
It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. For a new leader trying to understand their team members and build trust/break the ice, I would suggest a couple activities I've done and were very effective.
First, discuss norms with your teams...I lead a global group, so there's a lot of cultural differences you need to understand in order to have a team spirit. Understand their preferences..calls, emails, flexibility, closer connection...this will vary by individual and culture they are inserted in.
Second, when I am leading a new team, I like to do what I call manager assimilation, which is a fancy term for introduce yourself as a professional AND person to your team. Let them know your true YOU and show your style and expectations. Most importantly, ask them to share their expectations of you and concerns and excitement they have about this new chapter.
Third, I LOVE doing Strenght Finders assessment and this is something everyone appreciates. You get to know yourself and your team strengths, which will help you engaging the right resources to the right challenges on the day to day.
Lastly, in person or virtually, open the space for fun things. Happy hours, time to talk about something fun in your life, share some fun facts from your culture, country or city. If in person is possible, a Happy Hour, dinner, scape room or any other idea you can engage more personally with people is always welcome.
Hope this helps!
