We are a large food manufacturer with various locations throughout the United States that is looking to create an internship program. We recognize the significance of generating traction and widespread adoption for such efforts. Which internal stakeholders should we involve ensuring successful implementation, and who can support and promote the program? Also, at what stage of the program's development should we involve these stakeholders?

I am not in food manufacturer but from FS experience you should involve every function for the 12 week programme for the internship to be successful. I am happy for you to connect and I can talk through.

We designed and involved stakeholders in internship programs from the very beginning through a structured process. Here are the steps we followed:

Needs Assessment: We began by evaluating our organizational needs and program objectives, including goals like enhancing brand awareness and value.
Stakeholder Identification: Key stakeholders were identified, including department heads and support functions like Finance, HR, and Marketing.
Program Design: We carefully designed the program, defining job roles, evaluation criteria, mentorship opportunities, timeline, training, and target colleges for recruitment.
Communication: Clear and regular communication with stakeholders ensured alignment with program goals.
Recruitment & Selection: Stakeholders played a role in the recruitment and selection process.
Onboarding & Integration: Interns were onboarded and often given rotational roles across departments to enhance their experience.
Mentorship & Feedback: A mentorship system and regular feedback mechanisms were established.
Integration with Workforce: Integration and knowledge sharing with the existing workforce was prioritized.
Evaluation: Feedback was collected from stakeholders at the end of the program.
Conversion: High-performing interns were considered for full-time roles.
