Project meetings needing face to face collaboration, stand up hours etc are difficult to manage remotely. Moreover project that have rapid change should be execute through face to face interactions.

Other - culture

This might go hand in hand with Communication and Collaboration, and Recognition and rewards, but I had thought about culture and belonging. A simple example is in offices, it's easy to give out free "swag" and people feel excited to collect the items or wear them. When individuals are digital/remote, mailing those out become difficult.

I think the answer choices above are each contributing parts of single the biggest challenge in managing employee experience digitally, which is trying to maintain a robust company culture.  Each of the items above is critical - here are my initial thoughts:

Introducing new employees to the company while completely virtual is challenging and likely not as engaging as if it were in-person.  We have digital tools to facilitate communication in remote settings, but those nuances we find in face to face interactions can be lost.  Social bonds are harder to replicate online/virtually. It's easy for the lines to get blurred between work time and personal time, leading to burnout or stress.

Love this answer. I've been curious lately how younger employees (i.e., the youngest GenZ and the future Gen Alpha) might factor into this. Those groups have been raised digital first, and in the case of Gen Alpha, many of them have learned a lot of their socialization online. Perhaps a day will come when digital first makes more sense as more and more new talent is increasingly adept at navigating those environments.
