Breathe. You want to find technical debt as soon as possible. During the onboarding phase, you have a window to say, "This is what we discovered, and it will cost X." This can help you get extra support.

It's about prioritization. Understand the big problems and low-hanging fruit, and balance between them. Communicate with leadership to understand what's possible, as technical debt can be expensive.
Transparency is key. Share your discoveries with leadership to build a foundation for addressing these issues collaboratively. If you discover problems in the first 100 days and are transparent, it creates a foundation for solving them.
