We are very much at the start of our journey and are eager to take the right steps forward. We believe it starts with understanding the impact of AI on our organization and roles is the initial step before developing a strategy. Conducting a skills gap analysis helps identify areas for growth and development, ensuring employees can navigate the opportunities presented by AI. Despite media-driven negativity, human-to-human connections remain essential, and our focus is on providing tools and resources to empower employees to grow alongside AI. We view AI as an opportunity to enhance individual roles, exploring how to add more value and evolving skills to contribute meaningfully to the organization.

I think there are several skills that GenAI will make absolutely critical for continued career success. Two that come to mind for immediate development are critical thinking and process improvement. These are not new skills, but GenAI creates an urgency for them. Specifically, anyone using GenAI needs to carefully construct prompts to yield a useful output, which then needs to be closely analyzed and validated to ensure the information is correct and appropriate for their situation. Process improvement skills are also helpful as employees will need to consider in what ways they can integrate this tool into their workflows to save time, increase productivity, or improve quality. People who get ahead of their skill development needs will likely be better positioned to use GenAI as a tool that helps them pivot to spending time on higher-value work.
