I look for the ability to mentor a junior co-worker, the ability to collaborate well with others, and the courage to speak along with empathy when challenging an idea or proposal. The individual also has to be able to separate the tactical for delegation and the strategic to focus on the right things at the right time.

I identify potential future leadership within my teams by observing not only who consistently exceeds performance metrics but also who demonstrates key leadership qualities such as strategic foresight, decision-making prowess, and the ability to inspire and mobilize others. I look for individuals who embody a sense of ownership over their projects, show a deep understanding of our business goals, and exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills. Equally important is their willingness to mentor peers and their proactive approach to seeking out new challenges and learning opportunities. These traits, combined with a track record of successful project delivery and the ability to thrive in collaborative environments, often signal a readiness for leadership roles. My approach includes providing these individuals with increased responsibilities and leadership development opportunities to further assess and cultivate their capabilities.

Identifying future leaders within my teams revolves significantly around spotting individuals who naturally embody empathy, strategic thinking, and initiative. I look for those who not only tackle the tasks at hand with enthusiasm and ownership but also exhibit a deep understanding of the teams perspectives, challenges, and goals. It's this blend of understanding people, grasping the bigger picture, and taking action that truly marks the potential leaders in my teams, and nurturing their growth is both a responsibility and a privilege.
