I am interested to learn more about how organizations with large, diverse and globally dispersed operations undertake performance management with their frontline employees. What mechanisms/frameworks do you use? Have you linked pay to performance, do you use performance ratings?

For our frontline or operational employees, our local Human Resources leaders and site executives have established performance management practices that align with their culture and local practices. The practices, however, do include performance measures or key job factors such as quality and quantity of work, reliability, attendance, and skill and job expertise for the various roles. We do have, however, globally standard rating scales so that the pay-for-performance process aligns with the annual compensation planning and budgeting.

We have employees throughout the US currently and leverage Workday. We use performance ratings and link to merit. It is helpful for consistency and to ensure regular dialogue. It can be challenging for leader capacity.
