What are other organizations doing around internal mobility? Would you share your strategies and insights?

We have hard targets as an organization related to internal mobility specifically promotions into management positions. To support this we have a strong focus around career path, mentorship, succession planning and learning and development. We also allow our permanent employees to apply to temporary/contract roles. This gives them the opportunity to learn new skills and get exposure to different areas of the organization. We hold their permanent position for them while they are in the other temporary position. Accordingly their permanent position is backfilled by a temporary contract.
Here's a great article that puts freedom and market dynamics at the center of an organization which makes internal mobility just how things are done around here... https://www.corporate-rebels.com/blog/ecosystem-of-startups
we're exploring, piloting and implementing two mechanisms in parallel: 1) a formal and systematic rotation program for core operational employees every 4 years, and 2) a more fluid and indicative employee-to-upcoming opportunities matching framework that aims at aiding employees to prepare themselves for next career moves in advance.
I'd love to understand more about your rotation program and matching framework, and what supports/tools you have for employees to explore how to decide on and prepare for their next career move.
Happy to share, please feel free to reach out directly!
What are key leadership behaviors that facilitate cross pollination of internal talent?
All permanent roles are posted internally and everyone is welcome to apply (regardless of current business unit belonging)
Recently we introduced an internal opportunity marketplace, mainly for project assignments /part time gigs that you can be allocated to for development purposes. In this program you find assignments/projects that fits your development aspirations and get time allocated to contribute to those assignments/projects. We kicked off a pilot in June, so this is just about to start.
