What strategies have you introduced to improve your recruiting process?

When I was with our director of equity, diversion and inclusion (DEI), one of the things that she told me was, "As opposed to saying, ‘Tell me about yourself,’ the question you should be asking is, ‘What do you want me to know about you?’" It's a very powerful question during recruiting: What would you like me to know about what you'd like to do next in your career? Even if you have that conversation with direct reports during one-on-ones, you'll find out who wants to stay in their own box and who's willing to grow and try out a different box. You can put those people on more innovative, forward-looking projects that may add value to your organization in the future, just by matching that interest with the talent you have.
Some successful strategies I have used:
1. Regularly update job descriptions and make sure they are clear, specific, and relevant to the role and responsibilities
2. Streamline the interview process (interviewers, length, questions, response time)
3. Leverage LinkedIn and job boards at relevant professional networks
4. Incorporate skill-based questions and assessments as needed
5. Network and attend industry events to meet potential candidates/referrals and build a talent pipeline
