What strategies do you use to motivate and inspire your team?

It's easy to get focused on expectations from other teams within the organization. But ultimately, what you're doing should tie back to the company strategy - and if it doesn't, you shouldn't be doing it. Paint the big picture of how a seemingly small task is part of an important goal - everyone needs to know their work matters. This also helps with prioritization.

Use real world example they can personally relate to that is similar to the challenges we are facing at work. It creates a sense of ownership of the problem. It also inspires them to find creative solutions.

I had one team member struggling with a vendor who spent more time prematurely invoicing for incomplete work. I asked him what he would do if a plumber redid all the plumbing in his house and asked to be paid before he turned on the water. That's all he needed to hear. Premature invoices stopped. Happy team member.
