First and foremost salespeople need to know that they are the leaders of their own "mini" business within the organization they work.  Meaning they must take a 100% commitment towards their future and their career.  

Second, salespeople need to do daily activities that lead them to setting meetings / presentations.  This type of leadership is taking control of their daily work and leading by example.

Lastly, Focusing on what's important and avoiding the "distractions" that typically occur on a daily basis.
