When we set out to build a file system for the future it was obvious that the cloud would change the way we think about storage in fundamental ways. What was less obvious was that the way companies use their data would eventually impact the evolution of the cloud itself.
This past year I’ve spent much of my time on the road, meeting with large organizations ranging from global industry leaders to large nonprofits and university research centers. What these organizations share is an insatiable appetite for storing, sharing and analyzing data and this in turn is impacting how they re-build their IT environments in the cloud.

In a world marching to the beat of digital transformation, synchronizing your players offers strategic advantages. Eight years ago, when Nasuni built the first global file system designed for the cloud, early adopters quickly saw the value of a single “source of truth” in the cloud. Using a hybrid architecture offers organizations of all sizes across all industries the ability to rapidly bring this “truth” to users and locations everywhere.
Fast forward eight years, and the ability to synchronize files back to their source and give users instant and reliable access is now a strategic capability. Architectures that intentionally create data silos are coming under increasing scrutiny. Instead, advanced hybrid cloud storage solutions provide a fabric that allows an organization to optimize security and performance for files flowing from the cloud, to the edge, to users, and across multiple locations and time zones.
Hybrid cloud storage is now key to modern infrastructures
Gartner defines hybrid cloud storage as a broad category of solutions that are being used to modernize today’s infrastructure. In this newsletter, featuring access to Gartner’s Hype Cycle for Hybrid Infrastructure Services, we take a deeper look at two key uses of hybrid cloud storage: first- cloud backup and DR, and second -synchronizing information across multiple sites. Read on and learn how our visionary customers are putting Nasuni to strategic use across their organizations.

Hype Cycle for Hybrid Infrastructure Services, 2018
8 August 2018
Hybrid infrastructure services continue to mature, though organizations look for services to manage digital infrastructure components such as data centers, private and public cloud, IoT, and edge computing. Providers continue to expand offerings to meet demand.
What You Need to Know
Hybrid IT infrastructure services continue to evolve, with digital business, the Internet of Things (IoT) and intelligent automation services driving innovation in the market. Trends in software-defined infrastructure and cloud continue to create opportunities and challenges for IT, sourcing and procurement teams to keep up with evaluating new IT services. Analytics and automation are combining to enable service providers to offer intelligent services with service-specific business outcomes. Additional value-added offerings focus on optimizing an organization's infrastructure, as well as managing transitions to hybrid and cloud-based architectures.
This Hype Cycle will help end-user organizations evaluate the various infrastructure service options available to them to implement and manage new hybrid models. Organizations must understand the new wave of infrastructure service offerings included in this Hype Cycle to inform and guide their service sourcing strategy and investment decisions.
