Breandán Knowlton-Hung is Deputy Director for Cyber Solutions in the UK Government Cyber Unit, where he leads programmes to improve cyber resilience across government. His work spans secure-by-design approaches, digital resilience, cyber implementation, and emerging challenges including post-quantum cryptography and AI-enabled security.

Before joining the Government Cyber Unit, Breandán served as Chief Information Security Officer for the Government Digital Service and has worked across software engineering, architecture, product management, delivery leadership, and cyber security in both the public and private sectors. His career has included roles in startups, financial services, central government, and international institutions.

A frequent speaker on cyber resilience, digital government, and systems change, Breandán is particularly interested in how governments can tackle complex security challenges through distributed delivery models, local accountability, and practical interventions that change behaviour rather than simply create policy.
