Is technology supercharging the onboarding process at your organization?

There are so many different options, but I would like to see a mobile application for onboarding. As a traveling consultant for many years, we were forced to take so many trainings that really didn't pertain to us, but we couldn't take them on our phones. I'd be sitting on a plane for five hours, yet I can't get this non-value added activity done while I'm sitting there. I'm still waiting for that magic tool myself.
But I think part of it is thinking about the way that we design for our own internal customers. What is the experience that they'd want to have? Make it easy, interoperable, and integrated. What do I need to know about the rest of my company to get me started in order to hit the ground running? Everyone has a learning content management system that you can access to learn about different topics, or to take your required trainings, but I don't think it's so immersive that you can say, "This is a tag or keyword that I'm thinking about. What is the most relevant information that I can find for that?"

We have a mixed bag. We are in education, so we should know how to educate, but a lot of the training is in a classroom-like format. We're moving towards using the CRM that we already have to provide those trainings anytime, anywhere, from any device. That flexibility is in our future, but it's quite a ways out.
