We are considering a move from Salesforce Marketing Cloud Automation to Hubspot. We would not move our CRM functions, just marketing automation. If you have made this move, could you share your thoughts, and the benefits/impact it has made on your org? Or should we stick with the Salesforce suite?

We are considering both (HubSpot and Salesforce). Why the move? Pros/cons?
We're in the process of making this exact change now. We've contracted with Hubspot for marketing automation and looking to integrated with Salesforce Salescloud for CRM. As the team works through and from what I've seen first hand, Hubspot is just going to help us move faster across the board. The digital marketing team will be far more self-sufficient without the requirements of engineers and architects that SFMC require. The trickiest part is Salesforce connector, but Hubspot has provided great support to help navigate that.
We moved our entire CRM a few years ago from SalesForce to HubSpot. We were running a hybrid system before that but decided to consolidate based on the fact that we always struggled to analyze all relevant data across the entire customer journey.
From that perspective, I would always opt for as many integrated workloads and functions as possible in one technology. However, between back then and now, there are more options to bring all data together, say in a data warehouse and a BI layer.
That being said, I am very happy with HubSpot's marketing automation functionality. Our sales team, to the day, misses SalesForce.
