Gartner Group, Inc. Announces Acquisition of System Builder Summits from Technology Event Management Company
Stamford, Connecticut, June 16, 1999--Gartner Group, Inc. (NYSE: IT) today announced the acquisition of System Builder Summits from Technology Event Management Company (TEMCO) of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
System Builder Summits are exclusive forums that bring together white-box market leaders with technology solution vendors. A white box PC is defined as any complete uniprocessor system (deskbound, mobile, or server-marketed) manufactured by a channel organization, contract manufacturer, or an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) without a registered brand name. Through a variety of venues, vendors from manufacturing, software, distribution, and service organizations build relationships with system builder channel leaders and present targeted products, programs, and cooperative marketing strategies. In 1999, the white box market will account for 42 percent of the sales of new PCs.
"The System Builder Summit has a marketing vision in line with GartnerGroup events," said Mary Ellen Sheehy, Vice President of Vision Events International, a division of GartnerGroup's Worldwide Events. "System Builder clients are attracted to an environment where product and industry information can be exchanged clearly and without hype. That kind of knowledge-sharing is present at all GartnerGroup events."
System Builder Summit is held twice a year, with the fall event scheduled for September 7-10, 1999 in Boca Raton, Florida. The agenda for the four-day event includes keynotes by David R. Dukes, John C. Dvorak, and other industry leaders; technical briefings by leading sponsors; theater-style presentations; panel discussions; and a two-day product and services expo. To attend the System Builder Summit, call (800) 813-7529 or visit www.systembuildersummit.com on the Web.
