IT Key Metrics Data 2007 Key Findings

  • IT spending in 2006 was higher than many organizations anticipated, but this growth can be largely attributed to increased business demands on IT products and services, which in turn limited the amount of IT investment in new business capabilities.
  • IT spending plans for 2007 show higher levels of caution compared to recent years, particularly in the EMEA region.
  • However, there continue to be “micro-climates” of stronger activity within industries and geographical regions.
  • Between 2006 and 2007, IT for most industries appears to be falling behind business growth, both in terms of revenue and operational spending growth. This may put business growth and transformation plans at risk.
  • Outsourcing has returned as one of the highest spending areas.
