  • Despite initial spending plans for increases of around 3% in 2007, participants' budgets have actually increased by around 6%.
  • Strongest growth in IT has been seen within Information Technology organizations (hardware, software and service providers), as well as within Professional Services organizations.
  • The outlook for 2008, based on pre-year forecasting, looks relatively optimistic with an average increase in IT spend of around 5% planned. However, with increasing downward economic re-forecasting in particular in the latter half of the year, organizations' spending plans may have been re-forecast with a less optimistic outlook since a number of these forecasts were collected.
  • The trend overall in 2007 was for lower levels of outsourcing than seen in 2006, when outsourcing was at it highest level.
  • IT capital investment, as a percentage of overall IT investment, decreased for the fourth year in a row.
