To foster information sharing and best practices with Analyst Relations professionals so clients and non-clients can interact more efficiently and effectively with Gartner.
Welcome to our October pre-Gartner Symposium/ITxpo Newsletter! As many of you prepare to attend Gartner Symposia/ITxpo, we wanted to share with you what to expect at the AR Forums at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo in Orlando, Barcelona and Gold Coast, Australia. We also have this month a fabulous AR success story about Niki Hall, VP of Corporate Marketing and AR at Polycom, who will share the keys to gaining executive-level support for her AR program. We also provide you with an additional article on “Utilizing Agencies as Part of Your AR Program,” featuring Josh Reynolds, AR Practice Lead at Blanc & Otis. And as always, we introduce you to the recent analyst arrivals at Gartner!
New Sessions Added to the AR Forums in Orlando and Barcelona: We’ve had fabulous registration responses for the Orlando AR Forum scheduled for October 8, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 p.m., with a cocktail networking reception to follow. The Barcelona and Gold Coast Forum attendance is also ramping up as expected. In addition to hearing from Gene Hall, Gartner CEO, on a Gartner strategy update and what it means for the AR community, Peter Sondergaard, our global head of Research, will share what Gartner Research has been up to over the last year, with a focus on “what it means for AR.” Based on high interest from the AR community, we’ve invited Julie Thomas, MVP, Research Content Strategy, who will share insights and field your questions about the new Gartner Magic Quadrant enhancements and the result of Julie’s research into the other Gartner methodologies that are in high demand by your customers and prospects. And finally, we will hold an interactive panel discussion: “Analysts as Coaches to High-Tech Providers — Myth or Reality.” Three of your AR peers, with representation from Gartner Research, will discuss strategies for leveraging analyst insights to help high-tech providers grow their business. We look forward to your questions and challenges for our speakers and panelists to address, and look forward to seeing you at the AR Forums in Orlando, Barcelona and Gold Coast, Australia!
Building Executive Support for Your AR Program: Executive buy-in is a common challenge that can create obstacles to an AR team’s success if not properly addressed. We recently met with Niki Hall, VP of Corporate Marketing and Analyst Relations (formerly Global VP of Analyst Relations) at Polycom, to talk about the ways that she built executive-level support for her AR program and landed a promotion in the process! We’re also excited to have Niki participate in our AR Forum Panel to further share important details of her success.
Agency Benefits for AR Programs: In our last issue of the AR Newsletter, we spoke with former Gartner analyst Joshua Reynolds, CEO at Blanc & Otus, who discussed some of the key drivers for engaging a PR agency. In this second article of the two-part series, Josh shares tips for vetting PR agencies and discusses how executive maturity can positively or negatively affect buy-in for engaging the support of a PR firm.
New Analyst Hires: We are always very excited to welcome new members to the Gartner Research organization, and since our last Newsletter in July, we’ve brought on board a few new Gartner analysts who you should get to know: We look forward to you meeting these newest Gartner analysts who are relevant to your markets and areas of interest.
As always, please send us your questions at firstname.lastname@example.org, and if you have any needs for one-on-one discussions with us about your AR practice, please feel free to contact us. We’ll see if meeting face to face at Symposium fits with our respective schedules! We look forward to seeing many of you in Orlando, Barcelona and Gold Coast at the AR Forum, and we wish you much continued success with your Analyst Relations programs!
