Keynote and Conference to Focus on Emerging Trends, Technologies and Business Opportunities

STAMFORD, CONN., March 16, 2004 — Gartner, Inc. announced that Bill Gates, chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft Corporation, will discuss emerging technologies and participate in a keynote interview during Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2004. The conference will be held at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California, March 28-April 1.

During the five-day conference, Gates and industry executives scheduled in other keynote interview sessions will join more than 150 Gartner analysts to discuss current developments and insights on the conference theme: the emerging technologies, trends and opportunities that business leaders should focus on during the next six to 24 months.

On Monday, March 29, Gates will review and assess landmark new technologies in a question-and-answer format with Gartner research analysts during a general session of the conference. The Microsoft co-founder and chairman also will describe several specific technologies he anticipates soon will have a major impact on business and society.

Gartner Symposium/ITxpo is the industry's largest event providing senior IT and business strategists with in-depth analysis on the future of IT. It is also the largest gathering of CIOs and CTOs in the world.

"There are big changes ahead in the technology industry that will impact business and society immensely," said Kathy Foreman, group vice president of worldwide events for Gartner. "Increased spending will accelerate innovation, and productivity will increase dramatically during the next two years. Bill Gates has been a leading visionary in the technology industry for more than a quarter century. We are delighted to announce that he will share his current thinking on the advancing world of technology with attendees at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2004."

Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2004 offers attendees more than 180 sessions in 30 specialized content tracks, one-on-one meetings with Gartner analysts and an exhibition floor with more than 100 of the latest products and services in technology.
