Gartner Dataquest to Award Innovations in Services Marketing in Upcoming Contest
San Jose, Calif., October 27, 2000 - Dataquest Inc., a unit of Gartner Group, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB) is sponsoring its fourth-annual marketing competition for the most effective and creative IT services marketing efforts. The findings will be published in the annual "Innovations in Services Marketing" report that features campaigns, programs, sales tools, event strategies, messaging and branding initiatives launched between September 1999 and September 2000. The winners will receive awards in a special main tent ceremony at Gartner Dataquest's annual ServiceTrends 2001 conference, to be held in May in San Francisco.
"Winners and participants alike have declared that, internally, the exposure in this Dataquest forum internally has had positive impact on marketing budgets, and, externally, has created some of the buzz one would expect from branding initiatives," said Jennifer Beck, group vice president and worldwide director of Gartner Dataquest's IT Services group.
Gartner Dataquest has developed a definition for innovative marketing, based on creativity and business impact. The judges' final decisions will weigh a combination of these seven evaluation criteria:
  • Effectiveness in achieving objective
  • Relevance to corporate business strategy
  • Leverage of promotional mix
  • Creativity
  • Originality
  • Concept-to-execution timeframe
  • Return on Investment
Gartner Dataquest will present three awards in the following categories: Most Innovative, best overall score in all seven criteria areas; Most Creative and Original, highest combined score for creativity and originality; Best Business Value, highest combined scores for meeting objectives, tying in to corporate strategy and return on investment.
Gartner Dataquest and Integration Management magazine will be the sole judges of the contest and all entries will be rated on a 10-point scale. A completed electronic entry form must be submitted to Gartner Dataquest by December 1, 2000. Submissions must be for service, not promotions. Additional information on this contest, as well as an electronic entry form, can be obtained on Gartner Dataquest's Web site at www.dataquest.com.
