Each quarter three specially selected research notes are offered as the cornerstone of this market information area. The reports will assist you in making crucial strategic business decisions and bring you research, analysis and opinion on technologies, applications, and trends.

Last quarter, we focused on security in today's e-business environment. The research selection for Volume 1, No 8, focuses on crisis management and disaster recovery and offers current opinion and analysis. We felt this would be especially helpful in light of the events of September 11 that have changed our world. AIIM International joins with the rest of the world in expressing our concern for all those affected by the events of September 11.

The first report, "What is Crisis Management?" identifies the key elements of business continuity planning including disaster recovery, business recovery, contingency planning and others. It also describes how to establish a crisis management team and how to empower them to be effective in an emergency situation by implementing key programs to ensure your business is resumed in a timely manner.

As we saw from the September 11 terrorist attack, cell phones and e-mail provided a means for communication of status, well-being and communication with business partners. The second research note, "Getting Through: Using E-mail and IM in a Disaster" will show you how to make good use of these technologies and the Internet to maintain your business communications in an emergency situation.

Most every organization has at one time or another had their network attacked. This type of activity can be costly to an organization and the risks to the organization can be minimized. In the research note, "Cyberattacks: Prepare Your Enterprise Now," you will learn the security measures that should be implemented in your organization to minimize the increased threat of cyberattacks that accompany terrorist attacks.
