Is the Gartner Security & Risk Management Conference in National Harbor canceled?

No, the Summit is not canceled. Due to ongoing concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19), Gartner has decided to reschedule the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit to November 2 - 5, 2020 at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.

Do I need to do anything to re-register for the new dates?

No, you do not need to take any action. We have contacted all attendees regarding their registration. If you were registered for the conference and need additional assistance, please contact us at

If the new dates do not work for me, can I get a refund?

If the rescheduled dates are not suitable for you, please email to find another alternative or to request a refund. 

What happens to my hotel and travel arrangements?

If you haven’t already done so, please contact your hotel and airline as soon as possible to change or cancel your original travel plans. We regret that we are unable to assist with airline change fees.

How do I register for the conference?

What methods can I use to pay?

Payment can be made by check, credit card or invoice with PO number. Gartner clients can also use Gartner conference tickets as part or full payment by contacting their account manager. Payment should be made prior to the conference or payment will be collected  at conference entrance.

Registration and badge pickup will open at the following dates and times:

Can I cancel my registration?

2020 Conference Registration Cancellation Policy

Gartner’s standard policy is that any registration can be canceled without penalty up to 30 calendar days prior to  the Conference. Due to the unprecedented and evolving COVID-19 global pandemic we recognize the need for flexibility in making changes to your registration. For all remaining 2020 conferences, we will allow cancellations without penalty up to 7 days prior to the Conference.

Are there any speaking opportunities at the conference?

Speaking opportunities are available for conference exhibitors. If you are interested in exhibiting, you will need to speak with a Gartner exhibitor sales representative. How do I sign up for Gartner one-on-one meetings?

One-on-ones are available exclusively to paid registered full conference attendees and are not available to exhibitors or exhibitor conference session pass holders. Due to the high demand for these appointments, each attendee may reserve up to two 30-minute one-on-ones with a Gartner expert. Preregistration for one-on-ones and small-group sessions are available through Gartner Conference Navigator, our online agenda-building tool.

Am I guaranteed the experts of my choice in my one-on-one meetings?

All registered attendees have the exclusive opportunity to speak directly with a Gartner expert in up to two private 30-minute one-on-one meetings. Due to the high demand for particular experts, sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do I sign up for roundtables, workshops and other sessions requiring preregistration?

Interactive sessions such as roundtables, workshops, and Meetups are available exclusively to paid registered conference attendees and are not available to exhibitors or exhibitor conference session pass holders. Due to the high demand and limited availability, we recommend you register in advance for these unique sessions. Preregistration is available through Gartner Conference Navigator, our online agenda-building tool.

Is there a list of Gartner experts who will be available at the conference?

Yes, we will have a Gartner expert guide with the list of our experts and the key areas with which they can assist clients. Please check back for the guide.

Are there any restrictions around Gartner one-on-ones?

One-on-ones are not available for vendor briefings or product demonstrations with experts. The expert reserves the right to stop the meeting if this situation occurs. Clients interested in briefing experts may contact the Vendor Relations department by emailing to schedule a meeting following the conference.

Please take the opportunity now to cancel or modify your travel arrangements as appropriate. If you booked your hotel as a part of the Gartner room block either through us directly or with the hotel, we will be cancelling your hotel reservation on your behalf. If you are unsure if you are booked in the Gartner room block or you booked on your own, please contact your hotel directly to cancel your reservation.

Gartner has reserved a limited block of hotel rooms at special hotel rates for registered attendees when you book through your account.

I received a phone call from someone saying they can offer me a room at a lower rate or at a different hotel. Is this a scam?

Gartner Conferences will always provide notice to attendees and exhibitors when using a third-party provider, such as George P. Johnson (GPJ), as part of the conference administration. If you receive a phone call or an email from a third-party provider claiming to be contacting you on behalf of Gartner Conferences, please contact the Gartner Conferences team to verify the third-party provider prior to responding. Registered attendees will be informed via email as conference documentation becomes available on Gartner Conference Navigator. This email will include step-by-step instructions to access presentations and select audio-recorded sessions.

What should I do as a first-time attendee?

  • Before you arrive, build your agenda using Gartner Conference Navigator (on your desktop or via our mobile app).
  • Make sure your profile is complete to get the best from our profile match feature. Share information about your interests and priorities to discover the sessions that are the best fit for you.
  • Be sure to register in advance for any roundtables, Gartner one-on-one meetings or workshops you’d like to attend. We also have networking breakfasts and breaks running throughout the conference to help you expand your network.
  • If you need a hand getting started, contact the Gartner Concierge Team for assistance. They can create an agenda based on your priorities, recommend exhibitors to connect with and even schedule your Gartner one-on-one meetings.

What is the Gartner Conference app and do I need to download it?

Gartner Conference Navigator is our mobile app (available on Android and iOS) that makes it easy for you to navigate and build your personal agenda. Download from your app store, sign in with your login details and you’ll be good to go. Don’t forget to opt in to receive push notifications while with us to keep informed of the latest conference updates.


Is my attendance limited if I am not currently a Gartner client?

Absolutely not! As long as you have fully paid your registration fee, you have access to all conference activities open to you along with Gartner session documentation. If you’re interested in becoming a Gartner client, you can visit the Gartner Zone to better understand the benefits you’ll receive.


Are there limited seating sessions that I need to sign up for?

Yes, you will need to sign up in advance for some sessions like workshops, Meetups and roundtables. If you try to register for a session and it is listed as “full or “closed,” there is still a possibility you can attend. Once at the conference, find the room for that session and arrive there about 15 minutes prior to the session start to have your name added to the waiting list. Spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.


What should I wear?

We suggest comfortable shoes — you’ll be doing a lot of walking from your hotel room to the conference space, from session to session and when navigating the Exhibit Showcase. Business casual dress is what most attendees opt for, but we also recommend that you dress in layers, as the conference rooms can get chilly.

Are there any executive leadership tracks/sessions available at the conference?

Yes, there is an exclusive Gartner CISO Circle available at the conference. Attendance requires application — attendees can apply to the CISO Circle as part of the registration process. All qualified registrants will be considered and will be granted confirmation based upon qualifications defined below and space availability. The program has limited capacity to facilitate the interactive, collaborative content.

  • Applicant must have IT security leadership responsibilities for a business unit or division
  • Applicant must not report into any higher security executive
  • The applicant must not be employed by an organization that provides products or services to security professionals

Am I able to purchase a copy of the attendee list?

No, Gartner does not post or sell attendee lists. For more details please review the registration Terms & Conditions.
