Peter Ayliffe
President and CEO, Visa Europe
Peter Joined Visa Europe in 2006. He has driven increased customer focus, moving more people to the frontline of the business and creating Centres of Excellence to improve the provision of innovative, value-creating solutions. He previously spent more than 20 years with Lloyds TSB, a leading UK bank, where he held a number of executive posts in the bank's retail business, culminating in his appointment as a group board director.
Peter also spent five years as a non-executive director on the Visa Europe board. He has a degree in economics from Manchester University. Peter is also a non-executive director for Investor in People. He was named Industry Personality of the Year at The Card Awards 2009.
Steve Chambers
Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer, Visa Europe
Steve joined Visa Europe in 2004, and is responsible for Visa Europe's processing business, including the development and delivery of the organisation's IT systems. Steve's career in payment services spans 20 years; working for companies such as EDS, First Data and ACI and, although technology is his home ground, he has also run marketing, sales and product disciplines.
He has a degree in physics and astrophysics from the University of Leicester and a masters degree in optoelectronics from the University of Newcastle. For the second year running Steve was named by silicon.com as one of the top 50 leaders shaping the future of IT in the UK.
Phil Pavitt
CIO and Director General of Change, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)
Phil Pavitt, Director General and Chief Information Officer of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is responsible for one of the UK's most complex and extensive IT operations that touch every single individual, family and business in the UK. Phil is responsible for delivering many of the familiar tax systems combined with UK critical Custom's systems that provided UK PLC with £436bn in 2009/10.
Phil, a board member at HMRC, has combined his IT leadership role with key additional corporate responsibilities including Chair of HMRC's Change Delivery Committee, HMRC lead on process re-engineering and Government lead on IT for Smarter Government. Phil is also leading HMRC's Change Programme with responsibility for the overall delivery of the changes required as a result of the Spending Review settlement.
Gerry Pennell
Chief Information Officer, London Committee for the Olympic Games
Gerry is leading the team that will deliver the IT, telecommunications, audio-visual and timing and scoring technology required to stage the Games and deliver the results. Gerry's background is in large-scale project and program management gained through roles in software houses, for a major bank and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Gerry was the Director of Technology for the 17th Commonwealth Games delivered in Manchester in 2002.
After the Commonwealth Games and prior to joining LOCOG, Gerry was CIO for Cooperative Financial Services and the Cooperative Group, helping to head a significant program of modernization and change.
Jonathan Zittrain
Professor of Law and Computer Science, Harvard University
Jonathan Zittrain is Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the Kennedy School of Government, co-founder of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society, and Professor of Computer Science in the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Internet Society and is on the board of advisors for Scientific American. Previously, he was Professor of Internet Governance and Regulation at Oxford University.
He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a Forum Fellow of the World Economic Forum. Jonathan is also on the Board of Directors of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
