Amresh Nandan, Ph.D., is a Research Vice President in Gartner's Communications Service Provider organization. Dr. Nandan specializes in research for CSP technology strategy and processes for simplification and modernization. His coverage includes areas such as technology strategy for CSPs, modernization of CSP infrastructure management (such as network virtualization - NFV/SDN implementation), modernization of enterprise architecture (BSS and OSS), service assurance and customer experience. His research and advice are aimed at identifying and applying technologies, products and practices for simplification, competitiveness and digital transformation.
Dr. Nandan joined Gartner research after 17 years of experience in consulting, development of platform strategies, product management, OSS platforms development and technology implementation for CSPs. He has worked in multiple leadership roles at telecom business unit of TCS, where he led consulting engagements and developed platforms for managing devices, configurations and faults. His extensive work on CEM developed into consulting frameworks. Besides the CSP industry, he has experience consulting in the product engineering space for technology providers in the telecom industry.
His academic research focused on strategic response to regulation by telecom service providers, where he studied the impact of firms' participation in regulatory processes, their strategic posture toward regulation, resultant operational models and information flow on the competitiveness of firms.
