Bjarne Munch is a Sr. Principal Research Analyst with Gartner's IT Leaders & Tech Professional research organization focusing on network and communications service sourcing strategy, evaluation/selection of providers, contract terms and conditions, SLA's, and pricing best practices. This includes This includes Managed network services, managed WAN services, Internet services, Mobile services and managed mobile services, Fixed voice services, SIP Trunking, and Unified Communication as a Service.

He has been deeply involved in the evolution of enterprise WAN architectures from MPLS to Hybrid WAN and now Internet based SD-WAN with network functional virtualization (NFV) and embedded cloud connectivity. He has taken a key focus on how to use the Internet, broadband and 4G/5G for both remote worker and branch office application connectivity, as well as evolving SD-WAN security and SASE architectures, and performance monitoring.

Previous experience

Prior to joining Gartner, he worked for Ericsson, Australia, as strategic product manager for convergent communication, with frequent involvement in marketing and tradeshows in Europe, US, Asia, and Australia. Prior to this, he was a Lead Solution Architect in the Ericsson Convergent Communication group. He has also served as Chairman of the Global Fixed Telephone Switch Product Development Council, as well as technical product manager for core switching functionality. He also represented Ericsson in standardization activities within ETSI and ITU.
