Chris Saunderson covers automation and orchestration methodologies at Gartner, with a primary focus on the life cycle of systems from build to run to retire. Mr. Saunderson has 10 years of experience as an automation architect, architecting task and process automation solutions to address IT needs. His coverage includes the impact of automation and orchestration on the IT operations organization. He has an emphasis on improving the programmability of infrastructure elements, and the improvement of system availability and maintainability.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Saunderson worked for more than 25 years as a systems administrator, systems engineer, researcher, internal product manager, and as a program manager and lead architect for automation and orchestration initiatives. He scoped and delivered IT automation and orchestration initiative primarily around IT systems management: OS patching, OS provisioning, regulatory and internal policy audit and compliance, integration to other systems (IDM/Service Desk/Asset Management). He provided governance/architecture for orchestration enablement for workflow creation/acceptance for cross-domain orchestration cases: Closed Loop Incident Processing/Continuous Desired Configuration Management/Change Management Integration.
