Gartner Expert

David Sugden is a Senior Principal Analyst in Gartner’s Business & Technology Insights, sitting within Gartner's Enterprise Architecture team and formerly a member of the Technology Innovation practice. He is also a former Gartner Future Lab Associate, supporting with Gartner's far horizon research.

David’s research is dedicated to helping organizations build the right foundations to become future-fit, with a particular emphasis on process intelligence (including technology providers and emerging concepts/techniques such as agent mining), emerging technologies inclusive of AI, trendspotting, and innovation. He recently started new research areas on the concept of a digital twin of an organization (DTO), dynamic architecture, autonomic business.

David works closely with IT leaders such as CIOs, CTOs, and heads of EA, guiding them as they explore possible digital futures to achieve their desired future states. David supports with dynamic and future state architecture, including the use of emerging technology radars.

His research also covers EA assessment and IT scorecards, and topics around enhancing process maturity.
