Mike Rollings

Distinguished VP Analyst

Mike Rollings is Gartner's Chief Of Research for IT Role-Based Products. In that role, Mr. Rollings ensures that Gartner research meets the needs of Chief Information Security Officers (CISO), Chief Data and Analytics Officers (CDAO) and Software Engineering Leaders emphasizing technical and business leadership.

Most recently he covered the CDAO role, transformation required to become a data-driven enterprise, data monetization and information products, the strategic use and governance of data, the business value of artificial intelligence and how to drive enterprise behavior change.

Mr. Rollings is a winner of Gartner's 2017 Thought Leadership Award for busting AI myths, as well as the 2013 Thought Leadership Award for his examination of the changing IT career, talent and leadership. His over 30 years' experience covers strategy, transformation, innovation, human behavior, collaborative organizational change, communication, influence and cross-discipline effectiveness.

Previous experience

Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Rollings was a Managing Principal for Momentum Strategies, a private consultancy performing strategic program management, data strategy, enterprise architecture and governance consulting. Experience he gained at Momentum included establishing a global program office for data quality and interoperability, as well as implementing related governance changes for a global payment processing organization.

Prior to that, he was the Vice President and Practice Lead for Meta Group's domestic strategy consulting practice, providing IT strategy, enterprise architecture, IT investment management, portfolio and program management, and organization development consulting to Fortune 1000 and public sector organizations. His role included the development and implementation of IT investment plans and IT management processes that align application, infrastructure and other technology investments with strategic business drivers and objectives. While at Meta Group, he created an enterprise architecture project delivery methodology and co-created Meta Group's value management and portfolio management method an approach to create, analyze, balance and manage a given IT investment or asset portfolio.

Prior to Meta Group, Mr. Rollings was responsible for enterprise architecture at Anheuser-Busch where his experience included managing sales and marketing systems, as well as serving as a strategist responsible for information-based selling strategy.
