Nick Jones is a Vice President and Gartner Distinguished Analyst. Mr. Jones' research focuses primarily on Technology Innovation and the Internet of Things (IoT). His research coverage includes IoT strategy; 5G trends and applications, technology innovation tactics and processes; new digital business models enabled by the IoT; IoT wireless; the use of blockchain in IoT; IoT technology trends; location sensing and tracking technologies; RFID; smart lighting; smart buildings; the role and responsibilities of the CTO. His secondary research interests also include the use of mobile devices and apps as components of IoT solutions, emerging trends/technologies, consumerization, innovation strategy, smart cities and the social impact of technology.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Jones gained wide experience in IT from both the user and vendor perspectives. He has worked for consulting organizations and software tool vendors in a variety of roles, including technical consulting, product management, product selection and evaluation, globalization and product architecture.
