Research VP, Analyst Peter Kjeldsen covers Business and Technology Strategy for the Telecommunications Industry, including IP/Optical transport networks, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and other fixed access, mobile backhaul and fixed mobile convergence.
Mr. Kjeldsen is responsible for making research and delivering insights to our CIO and TSP clients on the topics of buying behavior and investment and sourcing strategies in the Comms Tech area. Network transformation strategies towards composable, scalable and green networks is a central theme of his research.
Client inquiries include vendors, telecom providers, government, regulators and investors.
Before joining Gartner, Mr. Kjeldsen worked at the Danish mobile operator Sonofon as a transmission planner and project manager. Mr. Kjeldsen started his career as an optical research engineer with Tele Danmark's R&D division, during which time he spent half a year with British Telecom.

Ph.D., Fiber Optics (title of thesis: "Transmission Properties of Single Mode Optical Fibres at 10 Gb/s and above"). The work toward his Ph.D. was carried out in collaboration with Tele Danmark (now TDC), Technical University of Denmark and Tellabs (formerly DSC Communications) under the Danish Industrial Research Education Programme that is administrated by the Academy of the Technical Sciences.
