Previous experience

Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Gupta spent about 11 years in the IT services industry on the provider side, working across a range of application managed service sales and delivery functions, including consultative selling and solution design on large ($50 million plus) multiyear strategic IT sourcing deals in North America, contract negotiations, service transition, account operations and governance, service delivery, program and portfolio management, Six Sigma-based continuous process improvement, and service transformation (specially agile development) and innovation. His industry experience includes healthcare, professional services, energy, manufacturing, media and information services over several consulting assignments for clients such as General Electric, a global top-tier management consulting firm and the National Institutes of Health, among others.

Mr. Gupta has worked for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Infotech (formerly Tata Unisys) and IBM. He has lived and worked in various cities in India and the U.S. at client and provider locations, gaining first-hand insight on strategy versus execution and shifting technology and socioeconomic trends that transform enterprise strategic outsourcing and offshoring practices.

In addition to sourcing and vendor management for application services, his current interests include the economics of cloud computing and outcome-based global delivery models as these relate to strategic business technology choices.
