Gartner Expert

Robert Hoyle Brown

VP Analyst

I am a Vice President in Tech Product Manager team within T&SP, responsible for coverage of business applications services strategies.

Previous experience

I was a VP at the Center for the Future of Work at Cognizant, as well as Cognizant's global head of strategy for its Digital Business Operations practice. Through presenting, writing, synthesis and analysis, my focus helped our clients, and their customers, partners and employees understand how the Age Algorithms, Automation and AI will impact work over the next decade.

I was also a co-Executive Producer of the documentary film "Places of the Future" (2021).

From 1999-2013, I was Managing VP of Gartner's Business & Applications Services team, and also led Gartner's coverage of the global HR services and BPO markets.

I also previously managed Gartner's European BPO research from Egham, U.K., before relocating "home" to California in 2002.

Prior to joining Gartner, I was the director of North American markets for G2R, a boutique California-based IT services consultancy (acquired by Gartner in 1999). I also served as a market research specialist with HP's CSO Worldwide Customer Information Management group.

I started my research career at the British House of Commons as a research assistant to Dame Cheryl Gillan, MP, who was former Secretary of State for Wales and Undersecretary for Education and Employment in John Major's government.
