Roy Schulte works on best practices, design patterns and technology selection for real-time analytics and decision intelligence. Real-time analytics support situation awareness, sense-and-respond behavior and enterprise nervous systems through the use of stream analytics, publish-and-subscribe messaging, and time-series analytics. Decision intelligence solutions enable decision automation and human decision support by leveraging business rule processing and decision services that that combine rules with machine learning and optimization analytics. Roy focuses across industries, wherever real-time analytics and decision making are relevant. He is co-author of the McGraw-Hill book, "Event Processing: Designing IT Systems for Agile Companies."
Before joining Gartner, Mr. Schulte was a product manager at Digital Equipment Corp. and managed the competitive analysis and market development teams at Data General. He previously served as system programmer, database administrator, application programmer and financial analyst at CIGNA Insurance, Evans Products, Lahey Clinic and MIT's Urban Systems Laboratory.
