Mr. Cushing joined Gartner from a firm specializing in upstream exploration and production data and information management, petrotechnical reservoir modeling and production management technologies where he ran the Professional Services organization and the Solutions Group providing strategy consulting.

Having begun his career offshore with Schlumberger, Mr. Cushing worked in geophysical surveying before joining Halliburton where he held consulting, operational management and business development roles. He has specialized in the application of digital and information management technologies to business performance. As a consultant, Mr. Cushing has advised oil and gas companies of all types across the asset life cycle in areas including data and information management, enterprise architecture, upstream interpretation and modeling technology, and digital oil field technologies.

Mr. Cushing's leadership roles have included Head of Professional Services for an oil and gas consulting firm and Head of Solutions where he established the company technical strategy and managed strategic consulting.

He has extensive experience working with supermajors, national oil companies and independents in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
